Details About Your Comments to Consilience: The Blog
Why We Moderate Comments
Our goal is to provide substantive commentary from our readership. By screening comment submissions, we have created a space where readers can exchange intelligent and informed commentary that enhances the quality of our information.
While most comments will be posted if they are on-topic, not abusive, and advance the exchange of relevant information, moderating decisions are subjective. We will make our moderation decisions as carefully and consistently as possible. We will not review individual moderation decisions with readers and only rarely will we remove a comment once it is posted.
Best Type of Reader Commentary
We value thoughtful comments representing a range of views that make their point efficiently and politely. We make an effort to protect discussions from repeated comments, either by the same reader or different readers, by not posting the repetitious comments
Commentary that is Not Acceptable
Reader comments that will not make it past our moderation include, but may not be limited to: personal attacks, obscenity, vulgarity, profanity (including expletives and letters followed by dashes), commercial promotion, impersonations, incoherence and SHOUTING.
Editing of Reader Comments
We do not edit your comments. Comments are either approved or they're not.
When and Where Reader Comments Will be Posted
The speed of the moderation process will typically be less than 24 hours. All comments are published to the comments section of the blog to which the comments are applicable.
Use of Your Real Name with Your Comment
We recommend using your real name since we have found that people who use their names carry more credibility, and often result in more engaging and respectful conversations. However, we recommend against using your full e-mail address on security grounds.
Once your comment is published, it can be found in search results on Web sites like Google and Yahoo. A representative of Consilience: The Blog or the Institute of Green Professionals may occasionally use the e-mail address you have listed in our Member Directory for a follow-up. For more information, please see our Terms and Conditions.
Criticism of Consilience: The Blog
We welcome strong opinions and criticism of our blog and bloggers, but we don't want comments to become bogged down with discussions of our policies, and we will moderate accordingly.
Communicating Errors, Corrections, and New Bloggers
We appreciate it when readers and people quoted in articles or blog posts point out errors of fact and we will investigate all assertions. These suggestions should be sent by e-mail to our moderators at info@instituteofgreenprofessionals.org with the subject line indicating that it relates to Consilience: The Blog. To avoid distracting other readers, we will not publish comments that suggest a correction. Instead, corrections will be made in a blog post.
Our blog readers across the globe are welcome to contribute valuable new information, clarifications, and topics for our bloggers. We also welcome new bloggers with relevant expert qualifications. If you are interested in being one of our bloggers, send us an email indicating your interest and attach your professional qualifications to info@instituteofgreenprofessionals.org.
